Sprachsalon is a small private Language school in Neukölln, Berlin. Here you can learn German as well as many other languages (Arabic, English, French, Hebrew, Italian, Russian, Spanish).
We’re open from Monday to Thursday from 10am to 8pm and Friday from 10am to 3pm.
We’re located at 38 Weichselstr. (in Neukölln) close to the canal Maybachufer and opposite the Weichselplatz park. The easiest would be to take the U7 to Rathaus Neukölln and walk 10 minutes towards the canal. The bus 194 stops around the corner otherwise the follwing buses stop nearby: M29 and 171.
We’re available all year round. We’re only closed over Christmas and New Year for about three weeks.
The teachers in our team have degrees in the field of Humanities and experience in language teaching for adults.
There are on average between 6 – 12 students in a course.
One lesson unit is 45 minutes.
It depends on the course that you select. Right now we have three different course structures. Here is an overview:
In an intensive course there are 4 days a week each 4 units a day. Making it 16 units a week. In 4 weeks you’ll complete one level (e.g.: A1.1)
You’ll attend an evening course twice a week each 2 units a day. Here you’ll have 4 units per week and need 16 weeks for one level (e.g. A1.1)
Our weekend courses always take place on Saturdays and consist of 5 units per meeting. In a weekend course you’ll need 12 weeks for one level (A1.1)
The fee includes level assessment/placement tests, certificates, invoices, as well as study materials handed out in the lesson (excluding text books). Beyond that there is a tea kitchen for everyone to make use of.
Upon request we’ll gladly provide proof of registration and/or a certificate of attendance.
In a course that’s already running you can gladly do a free trial lesson.
You can do free level test with us in the office anytime or do it online on our website.
We’ll of course try as best we can to place you at the right level. If the course however is still too easy or difficult, you may of course move to a more suitable course.
For levels A1, A2 and B1 we use the text books “Menschen Hier” from Hueber publishing.
For levels B2 and C1 we use the text books “Aspekte Neu” from Klett publishing. You’ll find further details about the course books (exact title, ISBN and price) on our German course page.
The course book is a requirement for participants in the course and must be bought by participants themselves. We’ll gladly advise you about where to buy the books.
No, currently we don’t offer these services. But our courses do prepare you for these exams.
In all courses at all levels teachers speak in German as much as possible. When necessary the teachers will clarify something in another language, spoken by participants.
To register you can either come by during office hours to Sprachsalon or fill out a registration form on our website. In addition the payment of the total course fee is necessary.
You can register for a course up until 10 days before the course starts. To do so the payment of the registration and course fees would be necessary. Once the payment of registration and course fees are confirmed a place in the course will be reserved.
Payment can either be made in cash in the office or be transferred. We will send banking details upon request.
If there aren’t enough confirmed participants by the end of the registration deadline, we have to postpone the start date of the course or cancel the course altogether. For this reason it’s important for anyone who is interested in doing a course registers in time to ensure the course takes place.
Registration can be cancelled up to 10 days before the start date of the course. The course fee will then be paid back in full via bank transfer. After the deadline cancellation will no longer be possible. Also if the student withdraws from the course a reimbursement of the fees won’t be possible.
A week before the course starts we’ll always send confirmation email with all relevant information to all registered students. Should the course be postponed or cancelled we will also send an email to all registered students.
Unfortunately sometimes we have to postpone courses because we don’t have enough students. If your course is postponed you’ll be notified at the latest one week before the start of the course and informed of the new start date.
Of course we don’t want you to fall behind! If you let us know we’ll gladly email you all information from the respective lesson or will ask the teacher to leave the materials in the office. Unattended lessons cannot however be made up or added to the course.
Your course book, something to write with, motivation and a good mood.
